Hey all!
I have a suggestion for how to pace yourself through this exam...
The first section of Film Clip IDs will likely be the first thing we do, because we'll be screening them. However, may I humbly suggest you leave the author IDs until AFTER you write the essay?
My reasoning is this: the essay is worth the bulk of the mark, therefore, it will take up the bulk of your time. If you leave it until last, you will be scrambling to finish it at the end (if you tend to re-write stuff, like I do). The Author IDs are multiple choice, and are a simple writing of "A, C, E, B" etc., and that is something that can be easily and quickly jotted down in seconds.
Also, take a couple of minutes before you start to plan out how you are going to answer things...write out a very brief bullet point plan on a spare sheet of paper as quick notes for when you are actually writing the essay.
AND, most important, DON'T FORGET TO BREATHE.
(I learned these from a PhD candidate this summer)
Good luck, everybody!

it's good advice, but i always prefer to do the easy things first. it just gets my mind in the write place and warms the writing hand up for the 3 hour endurance test that is exam writing.
